Stuart Henderson Psychology is committed to protecting your privacy and managing your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the professional obligations of registered psychologists under AHPRA guidelines.
What information do I collect?
I collect personal and health information necessary to provide you with psychological and therapeutic services. This may include your name and contact details, referral information, health history, and records of our sessions.
How is your information used?
Your information is used solely to provide and manage your care. It will not be shared with third parties without your consent, except where required by law or where there is a risk of serious harm. Brief reports may be provided to referring GPs, paediatricians, or psychiatrists for clients attending under a Mental Health Treatment Plan.
Storage and security
Your records are stored securely and are accessible only to me.
Physical records, where held, are kept in a locked and secure location.
Exceptions to confidentiality
Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our work together. There are a small number of circumstances in which I am legally required to act, including:
- Suspected child abuse or risk of harm to a child — I am required to report to the appropriate authorities.
- Risk of serious harm to yourself or others — I will work with you to ensure safety and take appropriate steps if necessary.
- If client records are subpoenaed by a court of law.
I will always explain the limits of confidentiality clearly at the beginning of our work together.
